Touchdown happens

In the ATL!

The long wait.

Winds are kicking up - so the flight is a little delayed. The long view down the airport terminal.

Journey home

Despite the scandalous behavior of the tec2009 founder on the last day of the conference - the trip turned out to a great adventure - a positive learning experience and an opportunity great team building. I did meet some birds of a feather - with whom I think we can build a good professional relationship.
We got flashed. We got no picture ... But the memories are seared in my mind.
Thank you vegas!

Tec2009 first impressions

Standing in the lobby doing what I hate most --- schmoozing.
Jeff Vanderzee - our Quest rep is here talking the talk. Didn't know IBM had bid 8 billion for sun. Can you hear their kickoff song.
Here comes the sun ...
Doot do do do ...
Here comes the sun ...
Door do do do

Food here is decent. Quest puts on a good show. Perhaps I'm a bit spoiled .. I prefer personal attention.

Back to hotel after going to dam

I mentioned to RJ that miss liberty looked a little heavier set that her new York city counterpart. He reminded me that vegas is filled with all-you-can-eat buffets.

'splains it all. 

The full monty

Engineering marvel - the Hoover Dam. Despite 7$ parking and a lot of walking ... Well worth the effort to get there. Slow going almost the entire drive due to construction of a bypass for heavy trucks.

Reward yourself with huckle berry ice cream at the gift shop cafe when you're done.

Hoover dam - truly awesome 

Why is the DR in town ?

TEC2009

Expert speakers on Microsoft identity management and exchange are in town. Quest is the sponser and I am here independently to get what I need out of the event. Exciting changing times in the technology of identity provisioning and lifecycle maintenance. Quest offers tools in support of this endeavor and I am looking forward to seeing what kind of integration quest has in store with microsoft this week. I'll be blogging the whole week - so stay tuned to this bat channel for a dork eyed view of the conference.

Big 

Note to self. Buy one of these monster tubs!

Morning is night. 

No one sleeps in vegas. I think they rest their eyes for an hour and they head back down to the casino.

Woke this morning to a crescent moon hanging low over the vegas airport. Photo taken from 11th floor of the "Tropicana".

Shouldn't be a surprise 

Slots in Vegas are like Starbucks in Seattle. On every corner. 

Tropicana 

Of COURSE the beds here have mirrors on the ceiling. It's vegas after all.

A Smaller NY 

Looks big on tv. Smaller in person.

H8n the Vegas airport 

IMHO - poorly designed for the traveler. Designed to herd groups of tracelers toward the slots clumped through all the pedestrian tracfic areas. Definitely needs for novice friendly signage pointing the way to baggage claim. This IS Vegas - a little attention grabbing neon wouldn't hurt.

Flying over 

The grand crevice.

Crowded 

Totally full plane. Happy gamblers on their way to lose their shirts

I  Delta 

Individual choice per seat in entertainment. I watched e! - talk soup.
Oddly Delta said iPhone was not allowed inflight - even in airplane mode. :(
Is that ignorance of the technology of "airplane mode" in the part of Delta ? An stewardess with a thing against iPhone's ... Or is there really some hidden danger from iPhone's Apple is hiding from us ?

Zone3 

Yippie - for a change.

Waiting at the gate in Atlanta. 

Gate a 25 waiting and waiting. Rick was slick in boarding. Plane had two aisles - so he took the one less traveled and came from behind ... Pulled to the lead with seconds to spare and ended up taking the flag. Newcomer RJ, today ... In a surprise upset win over heavily favored DC. In an uncharacteristic move, DC refused to appear before reporters. Perhaps it had something to do with losing.

day 1 Vegas trek

An early start to the day - poor food choices and a smoke filled casino hotel. My stomah hurts and I'm tired.
My bedroom has mirrors on the ceiling.
Vegas is interesting.

Mobile Blogging from here.
